Le français et les cultures francophones à Furman

Salut à tous!

My name is Pierre-Antoine. I am this year’s French House Assistant at Furman, and if you’re reading this email, it means you are on the French Mailing List and that you will receive news about different activities we will organize about French language and Francophone cultures at Furman this semester!

This is what a usual week will look like for French and Francophone activities on campus:

On Monday nights, we’ll have what we call “Fun in French!” at 7:30 pm (Language House, North Village A (NVA)-302). Everyone who’s interested in playing games, participating in different kind of activities, and speaking French (of course!) can come and join us for a great bunch (hope so!) of fun… in French!

On Wednesdays and Thursdays will be the famous “Café Français” at Tower Cafe! Want to speak French outside the classroom with me, other students, and French professors while sipping a frappuccino? This is the place to be!

Remember the times:    Wednesday 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm                                                                                                                  Thursday 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Also on Wednesdays afternoons, I (Pierre-Antoine, French Assistant, remember?^^) will be at Tower Cafe, waiting for you! If you have questions, problems with your homework, or anything you need to know, related to French of course, feel free to come and ask me! I’ll be there from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm for the “French Helpdesk”!

On Thursdays we’ll have our Movie Night at 8:15pm in NVA-302! We’ll gather in the Video Room and watch a movie in French (maybe with subtitles^^), from France and other Francophone countries.

Time to work on your oral comprehension!

Let me sum it up:

Mondays         7:30pm: Fun in French! – NVA-302

Wednesdays   2:30 pm – 3:30 pm: Café Français – Tower Café

3:30 pm – 4:30 pm: French Helpdesk – Tower Café

Thursdays       1:30 pm – 2:30 pm: Café Français – Tower Café

8:15 pm: Movie Night – NVA-302

Next Monday 08/31 the highly acclaimed Taboo game will be back for the first session of “Fun in French!” Let’s play with words, draw, and … see how a furry special guest might help you with your French!

And for our first Movie Night, we’ll have a look at “Ne le dis à personne” (“Tell no one”), based on the novel by Harlan Coben. This critically acclaimed movie is probably one of 2007’s best films! If you need more information go to: http://www.allocine.fr/film/fichefilm_gen_cfilm=60722.html

J’espère tous vous voir très bientôt !

Pierre-Antoine
