Favorite Furman Tradition

One of my FAVORITE Furman traditions of all time is the annual December trip to the Biltmore Estate. The event is put on the by FUSAB (Furman University Student Activities Board), a popular student organization, and it is always a wild success. Here’s why:

FUSAB works with the Biltmore to set up a special event for Furman students. FUSAB raffles off 50 pairs of tickets, and each pair costs $50 (so, it’s $25 per person). I’ve participated in the raffle my junior and senior years, and won both times, so if you’re interested in going, you typically are able to. For the cost, FUSAB provides transportation to the Biltmore Estate (it’s in Asheville, NC so it’s about an hour away), a delicious buffet dinner, and a ticket to tour the Biltmore Estate! The tour allows you to see about 60% of the Estate, including a magnificent foyer, dining rooms, servant’s quarters, kitchens, pool, bowling alley, and lots of bedrooms. It is beautifully decorated for Christmas, and just a spectacular time. You can spend as much time as you like in each room, and it’s self-guided so you are free to move at your own pace. There are Biltmore staff members available to provide additional information about each room, and you have additional time after the tour to check out the shops on the Estate.

This is definitely something to take advantage of as a Furman student, so make sure to participate next year!  Below are a bunch of pictures from my trip this past year, just a few weeks ago!
