Come enjoy a special event as OLLI welcomes Jim Lavender – Storyteller for an afternoon of stories on Tuesday, November 5, 3:15 p.m., Herring Center Lobby. Coming from a fascinating and colorful “storybook” life, his first-person true narratives are captivating, often hilarious, and memorable. Although Jim is a native of the Mississippi swamp country, he now lives with his wife at their Bear Creek Hollow Farm in the hills of the Virginia hunt country. His stories are written at a 200-year old kitchen table, overlooking the wilderness of Bear Creek Hollow, with deer, turkey, giant red woodpeckers, and the occasional bear wandering beneath the windows. Let us know you will be there by signing up in the OLLI office.

Snippet from Sally..It’s almost Bunco Time! Now I’ve never played before, but I understand its lots of fun! How can you go wrong with a “no-skill just luck” game with the added treat of snacks and a glass of wine? I’ve been doing my research. This game has been around since 19th century England and was re-popularized as a gambling game often associated with a speakeasy. Do you suppose we might even have a raid from the “Bunco squad”?! Many thanks to Sally Key and the Social Committee for planning such a fun event!
