What is the StudioLab?

The StudioLab is a writing and multimedia center located at Furman University in Greenville, SC.  As part of the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL), we assist faculty, staff, and students with writing and multimedia projects.

The StudioLab is staffed by student consultants who can help students with various academic projects.  Students can bring writing assignments to the StudioLab Consultants and get peer feedback and assistance on the writing process.  We can help with any stage of the writing process, from initial brainstorming, to outlining, to final draft.  It’s always helpful to have a second person read  your work and help be sure your writing communicates your brilliant ideas effectively!

We also take the same peer-assisted approach to helping students with multimedia projects.  Students can bring their multimedia projects to the StudioLab, and gain access to cutting edge technology and software, as well as insight from our StudioLab Consultants who are well-versed in creating effective presentations and exciting video projects.

The only caveat: the StudioLab Consultants will not do anyone’s work for them.  We are here to offer support, advice, and guidance, but the paper you bring is still your paper, and the video you create is still your video, so you need to stay with your project in the StudioLab.  Put shortly, you can’t drop off a paper for someone to read and come back later, and you can’t drop off a video project for someone to edit for you.

Creativity is hard work, but we’re here to help!
