The Furman University Libraries and Malone Career Center invite you to join them for a panel discussion on careers in the Library and Information Science field. The panel will take place via Zoom on April 7 at 7 p.m. and will feature Furman alumni who currently work as library and information science professionals.

Take just 1 hour of your time and find out the real deal about librarianship. Meet Furman University alumni and librarians who have experience in a diverse array of information science sectors. Get your questions answered and walk away with the information you need to become a library and information science professional!

Meet Our Moderator and Panelists

Patricia Sasser – Moderator

Patricia Sasser serves as the Music and Outreach Librarian in the Maxwell Music Library at Furman University. She has worked at Furman since January, 2014. She has published 6 articles, 2 book chapters, and given more than 17 presentations. Patricia earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from American University, and Master of Music in Musicology from Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, and a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina.

Raven Miller – Panelist

Raven Miller serves as a Programs and Outreach Librarian with the Union County Library System. Raven graduated from Furman University in 2012 with her Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies. Additionally, she earned a Masters of Science in Library Science from North Carolina Central University.

Kelly Leonard – Panelist

Kelly Leonard serves as a Technical Requirements Analyst for Booz Allen Hamilton. Kelly graduated from Furman University in 2011 with her Bachelor of Arts in English. In addition to her undergraduate degree, she also earned a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina.

Chase Ollis – Panelist

Chase Ollis serves as a Professional Development and Outreach Specialist with the American Library Association. Chase graduated from Furman University in 2011 with his Bachelor of Arts in English. In addition to his undergraduate degree, he also earned a Masters of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Paige – Panelist

Paige serves as the Science and Outreach Librarian in the Sanders Science Library at Furman University. She has worked at Furman since June of 2019. Paige earned a Bachelor of Arts in Film/Video Production and Writing, and a Masters of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
