For this weekend, I believe, a thank you, is in order
for those in my life who have saved me from getting colder
The Vinings may not have any, but Furman certainly has electric
The lack of which caused lots of mayhem, made my life a little hectic.
And when I trudged to my car for refuge, I discovered the ice got there faster than I could
So thank you to FUPO for the ride that got me to Furman faster than my feet would
Big high-five, to the students in SafeRide with me, for helping, not laughing
When I nearly fell over trying to get in, my limbs thrashing
Thank you to Duke power answering center, for being patient with my calls,
and I’m thankful that the phone meant they couldn’t see me roll my eyeballs,
Thank you to the Dining Hall and the workers that came to feed us,
Because I was getting hangry, and no one deserves seeing me make a fuss,
And although I was the only one there, a huge thank you to the TJ Maxx employees
Who stayed open so I could shop for an interview outfit, frantically(s)
And then thanks to Publix, and to the cashiers with the best attitude,
for making it pleasant when I went to go stock up on more food,
I want to thank Furman Basketball cause that game was the best part of my weekend,
From which, I returned for take two of power outage, a disappointing trend
My mom deserves a shout out, with all the calls she picked up
And my big, and my roommate and my friends for not telling me to shut-up
So for the second time this weekend, I may not have power, or wifi, or heat.
But thanks to Furman, and apartment 101, I don’t feel any thing lacking, I’m fully complete.
Most of all I would like the thank Horace and Vergil and Dr. Childree,
For inspiring my Eclogue. Sing Muses . . . and make a poet out of me
