Well here we are, it’s already December 2nd. Fall has flown by, test and exams are upon us, and before we know it we’ll be back home for some good ol rest and relaxation. Exciting news: I got the classes I wanted for next semester! I’ll be knocking a lot of my GER’s out as well as taking intermediate accounting which is pretty exciting. Now I’ve moved on to finding an internship/job for the summer and figuring out when & where I want to study abroad.
I got to work in the admissions office this past summer as an intern so I learnt a lot of communication and people skills. Along the way I picked up some knowledge about how higher education works form scholarships and finances to application reading and generating applications. Now that I have a major I would love to work for any company that will take me since basically everyone needs an accountant. So it’s just going to have to come down to finding someone who wants me and will invest in my growth as a student this summer. Its weird to think about the summer already – but plans have to start taking shape!
In regards to study abroad, I would love to Europe and haven’t decided if I want a language immersion program in France, an internship program in Brussels, or culturally engaging trip in the Netherlands. There are multiple oppurtunities that I will apply to and see where I get in. Exciting news on the topic of travel…I will be going to Northern Ireland this spring break with the Cothran Center for Vocational Reflection here on campus. They take sophomores each year on a trip they’ve set up and this year we will be returning to the Corrymeela Community in Northern Ireland to learn about the reconciliation efforts between the Catholics and Protestants. I don’t all that will entail, but know the center does an excellent job in the vocational realm.
