Interested in serving as a leader of OLLI? Do you know someone who would be a great OLLI Council member? As required by our bylaws, Sally Bornmueller – President Elect, chairs the Nominating Committee and has chosen the following committee members: Kathy Roed – Volunteer Chair, John Bissell, Steve Davis, and Cathy Dwyer. Furman Engaged! Undergraduate research, internships, study away experiences, creative projects, service learning, first-year writing seminars and capstone experiences–Furman students have immersed themselves in these and other high-impact learning experiences. Furman Engaged! allows students to complete the last and key step of these deep learning experiences–public sharing of their work with peers, faculty, staff, and the community. You are invited to the 11th Annual Furman Engaged! on Tuesday, April 9, as students share their transformative experiences with the Furman and Greenville communities. A detailed schedule online.

OLLI HAPPENINGS
Join in our Lunch and Learn Tuesdays, where community speakers present a variety of interesting topics. Free and open to the public, 12:30-1:20 p.m., HC110. Bring your lunch and enjoy! On April 9, enjoy The Riley Institute: What’s It All About? with Riley Institute Executive Director, Dr. Don Gordon.

Innovation Hour is a business pitch course sponsored by the Furman Creative Collaborative in partnership with OLLI. This past year’s course was a big success and it will be back next fall. Check out this video to see what it’s all about.

Congratulations to OLLI Members Gordon Dohm, Brenda Hill and Ali Van Den Broek who all had pieces accepted into the prestigious Anderson Arts Center annual juried show. Ali was also the recipient of a merit award. The show will open Fri, Apr 5. You may find information on the arts center and the showing HERE.

What’s Going on at Furman?
The Furman University Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combos will present their spring concert Fri, April 5, at 8 p.m. in Daniel Recital Hall. Presented by Furman Department of Music. Tickets, $5 at the door.

Furman University Theatre presents “John Proctor is the Villain,” a new play by Kimberly Belflower in collaboration with The Farm Theater (New York), Tues, April 9,- Sat, April 13, at 8 p.m., with 3 p.m. matinees on Sat, April 13, and Sun, April 14. Tocqueville Lecture Series “Love, Friendship and Politics.” For the final talk in the series David Bromwich, author and Professor of English at Yale University, will speak at Furman University on Wed, Apr 10, at 5 p.m., Watkins Room, Trone Student Center. His talk, “Power, Passion, and Mark Antony,” is free.

The works of Furman University students will be on display April 5-27 at Greenville’s Southeast Center for Photography located on 116 E. Broad St. The opening reception takes place Fri, Apr 5, 6-8 p.m. Hours are Wed-Fri, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Sat, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free and open to the public. Learn more HERE.

Enjoy Art by Furman University graduating seniors which will be on display Apr 9-May 11 in Thompson Gallery of the Roe Art Building on the Furman campus. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. A reception honoring the artists is set for Tues, Apr 9, 6-8 p.m. in the Roe Art Building. FREE.

SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities hosts a solo show by photographer Armon Means, whose work considers minority identity, cultural concerns, and environmental influences. This exhibit will feature three bodies of work—”Black Bikers,” “Inclusions,” and “North American Portraits.” Means is a professor of art at Belmont University. Visitors are welcome and asked to sign in at the Visitor Center April 1 – 26 M-F, 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., SCGSAH Lipscomb Gallery, 15 University St, Greenville.
