OLLI NOTES

Celebrating 25 years of Learning in Retirement

Summer hours: The OLLI office will be open 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. during the summer. 864.294.2998

Summer classes begin next week!  It’s not too late to register. Pick up a brochure in the office, and a few more to share with friends and neighbors.  Summer is a great time to try OLLI for the first time.  Classes are just $35 and there is no membership requirement.

***Tuesday and Wednesday, June 5-6, there will be multiple high school graduations held at Timmons Arena. Traffic will be dense with little to no parking near the Herring Center (See below for class location changes those days). These are not good days to drop by the office and SIGs will not be meeting at the Herring Center during these days.***

Do not miss the May edition of OLLILife, which is hot off the press! Check out our online edition  and be sure to thank Sue Renault and her team for their wonderful work!

At the Annual Luncheon, OLLI Council President May Welborn announced a campaign to raise $100,000 to endow the OLLI Faculty Support Fund.  Income from this endowment will provide funds each year for a Furman professor to pursue research or scholarship that will enhance their classroom teaching.  Projects that involve a Furman student will be encouraged, and faculty will be required to give a Bonus Event or something similar at OLLI sharing their research with our membership.  Our current total has risen since last week:  we are now at $36,050!  All gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS.  You may make a one-time gift via credit card by clicking this link.  If you would like to make a pledge to pay later on, or a multi-year pledge, you can download this form, or pick one up in the OLLI Office.  If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Kennedy at 864-294-2979 or nancy.kennedy2767@furman.edu.

Apply now for Class 5 of Senior Leaders Greenville, a program of OLLI@Furman that builds awareness of the essential role of seniors in the community and the critical issues they face, empowering participants to become active players seeking better lives for seniors in Greenville, the Upstate, and beyond.  Learn more on the website, and click here to apply. Brochures and paper applications are available in the OLLI office.
