OLLI NOTES

Celebrating 25 years of Learning in Retirement

The OLLI Office is open 8:30-5 Monday-Thursday, and 8:30-4 on Fridays.  Our number is 864-294-2998.

Summer registration begins Tue., May 8 at 8 a.m. for everyone. The summer flyer is available on the website. No papers copies were mailed, but they are available in the office. Pick one up, and a few more to share with friends and neighbors. Summer is a great time for people to try OLLI for the first time. Classes are just $35 (unless noted) and there is no membership requirement. A great time to encourage a friend to try OLLI!

Celebrate another great year at OLLI at our annual Spring Luncheon on Tuesday, May 22 at the Younts Center. We will celebrate through photos (photo booth, anyone?), a bit of trivia fun, recognize incoming and outgoing Council members and of course, enjoy time with OLLI members before the summer is upon us. Doors open at 11:30 for fellowship (cash bar available).  Enjoy a buffet lunch at noon including baby greens with seasonal fruit salad, herb marinated chicken, roasted shrimp with peppers, roasted fingerling potatoes, balsamic glazed Brussels sprouts and cupcakes for dessert!  Dress is casual.  Sign up in the OLLI office for just $20 by Wednesday, May 16.  Please see Heidi Wright with dietary restrictions.

The Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the following slate for Council openings to be voted on at the Spring Luncheon on May 22:  President-Elect/VP Membership: Sally Bornmueller; VP Finance and Administration: Ron Eldridge; Members at Large: Mary Kay Kantz and David Johnson and filling an unexpired two year term as Member at Large: Tom Nowlin. Thank you to May Welborn, VP/President Elect/Nominating Committee Chair and her committee for their work in putting this slate together, and thank you to the nominees who said “yes” when the committee asked!

Apply now for Class 5 of Senior Leaders Greenville, a program of OLLI@Furman that builds awareness of the essential role of seniors in the community and the critical issues they face, empowering participants to become active players seeking better lives for seniors in Greenville, the Upstate, and beyond.  Learn more on the website, and click here to apply. Brochures and paper applications are available in the OLLI office.

Please remember to go light on your perfume/cologne as other members might have an allergy or sensitivity to your favorite scent.

As summer approaches we encourage all OLLI members to leave your furry friends at home when coming to the Herring Center for classes and the like. Even when parked in the shade, animals in cars create great concern among other OLLI members. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
