OLLI NOTES

Celebrating 25 years of Learning in Retirement

The Spring brochure is online and should arrive in the mail near Valentine’s Day. Registration for the Spring Term begins February 27 for course package holders and March 1 for single course purchasers. It promises to be a great Spring Term. Thank you to our incredible committee members and instructors for building this schedule!

*Don’t get caught in SNOW and ICE!  In the event of inclement weather, we will send out an email and update the message on our main number, 864-294-2998, when there is a closing.

Feeling sick? Stay home, please. As you are likely aware, this is a particularly bad year for the flu and other illnesses. If you have flu symptoms — fever, chills, sore throat, headache, body aches, confusion, etc. — please do not come to OLLI classes. See your doctor, rest and take care of yourself. This helps us all do our part to keep everyone well. Thank you.

OLLI Curriculum Enhancement Grants:  Have you ever wanted to teach at OLLI?  Are you an OLLI member with a lifelong learning passion that you’d like to pursue but the cost puts it out of reach? Instructors, is there something you wish you had, or a workshop you’d like to attend, to make your course even better?  An OLLI Grant can help! Members for at least six terms may apply for grants $200-$2,000. Within 2 years of receiving funds, recipients will share what they learn with the membership with a new course, creation of a new committee, a series of seminars… Applications available on the OLLI bulletin board or the website; deadline is March 1. Awards will be announced at the Spring Luncheon. Questions? Contact David Johnson.

Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of FULIR/OLLI by submitting your 5 x 7 printed photo of anything FULIR/OLLI!  The next Photography Exhibit for the Crabtree Photography Wall will be 5 x 7 photo display of YOUR prints, related to 25 wonderful years of learning in retirement at Furman.  All entries will be accepted and exhibited, in 5 x 7, unframed format. Please print off your photo with a ¼ white border, mark your name on the back, and deliver to the OLLI office by March 20, 2018.  One photo per OLLI member or Furman staff, please.  Please note, the OLLI Photography Committee is not offering printing for this photo display.  Let’s make this an awesome display for the Crabtree Wall!
