Happy Holidays to you all!

 

The OLLI Office will be closed December 19 through January 2. It will reopen on Tuesday, January 3. We hope you enjoy a wonderful holiday season!

 

Registration continues online and in the office. Some classes and bonus events have already filled, so please consider having a backup. If you are on a waitlist, we will call you if a spot opens up.  Each member may sign up for two Bonus Events.  If you are on a Bonus Event waitlist, you can add one more.

 

We are still looking for a few Class Liaisons for the Winter Term.  If you are interested in supporting our instructors in this way, please email Pam Roberson.  There will be a Class Liaison training on Thursday, January 12 at 1:30 p.m.

 

OLLI HAPPENINGS

 

Deadline Extended! The deadline for submissions for the Winter Baiden Wall exhibit “Pretty Posies” is extended to January 6. We are encouraging submissions from all our creative OLLI programs. See below.

 

OLLI @ Furman Winter Term Baiden Wall exhibit, “Pretty Posies,” will be January 16 – March 10. Submission deadline is January 6. All forms of artwork are eligible for this exhibit including photography, paintings, drawing, fabric art, woodworking, etc, provided they contain the theme of “Pretty Posies”. Meaning flowers or any flower motif. Each 2 dimensional entry must be matted and framed. Hanging wire is required on all entries. No saw tooth hangers, please. Quilts and large fabric/yarn items should be capable of being hung on the wall. Smaller and freestanding items will be displayed in glass cases. TRAVEL WITH OLLI

 

International Travel with Furman Professor, Marian Strobel – Battlefields of Western Europe

You are invited to join other OLLI at Furman Members and Furman History Professor, Marian Strobel on a historic exploration of the Battlefields of Western Europe on May 16-26, 2017. Starting and finishing in Paris, attendees will visit iconic battlefield sites, museums, glorious cathedrals and cemeteries significant to the American involvement in WWI and Normandy. Experience the cultural of western Europe with visits to quaint cities such as Bruges, Arras, Reims, Amiens and Caen. The cost of the trip is $4,571/double ($682 single supplement) which includes airfare, transportation to and from the Charlotte airport, accommodations and 2 meals per day. What’s happening at Furman?

 

The Upcountry History Museum – Furman University, in partnership with the Norman Rockwell Museum, is currently hosting the traveling exhibition Norman Rockwell’s Home for the Holidays. This beloved exhibition, featuring over 40 of Norman Rockwell’s most memorable and enduring holiday images, is making its South Carolina debut at the Upcountry History Museum. Enjoy a little something extra this holiday season with at the Upcountry History Museum! Enjoy a Monday Matinee showing of White Christmas on Monday, December 19 at 2 p.m. Movies are free to museum members and free with regular museum admission to all other guests.  Learn more here.
