Happy Valentine’s Day!

   * Don’t get caught in SNOW and ICE! In the event of inclement weather, OLLI follows the university schedule. If Furman closes, OLLI classes will also be canceled. Call Furman’s weather line at 294-3766 or tune into local news for the latest updates.

The Spring Brochure is on the website! Just click here. Paper copies of the brochure will be mailed today.

We hope you are enjoying the Marvin Book Nook! We think you will agree that it is full of great books for your reading pleasure, and new books arrive every day. There’s no checkout system. Just take a book, enjoy it and bring it back when you are finished if you want. Please keep in mind that we have limited space, so we are not the right place for those old books that you aren’t sure what to do with, but rather seek those books you would pass along to a friend because you enjoyed them so much! Special thanks to Lynne Blitstein and Judy and Norm Brooks for keeping the Marvin Book Nook so well organized!

OLLI Grants: As an OLLI instructor, is there something you wish you had, or a workshop you’d like to attend, to make your courses even better?  Are you an OLLI member with a lifelong learning passion that you’ve always wanted to pursue but the cost put it out of reach? Let an OLLI Grant help! Members of OLLI for at least six terms may apply for grants for $200-$2,000 to pursue a lifelong learning passion. Within 2 years of receiving their funds, grant recipients will be asked to share what they learn with the OLLI membership in the form of a new course, creation of a new committee, a series of seminars… The application deadline is March 1; applications are available on the OLLI bulletin board. Awards will be announced at the Spring Luncheon. Questions? Contact Grants Committee chair Judy Lineback.
