Is it a library? Is it a museum? It’s BOTH: It’s the Schoelcher Library, named after abolitionist Victor Schoelcher who donated about 9,000 books. The main floor is also used for art exhibits.
UPDATE! As of February, 2023, Martinique has a brand new flag, officially approved by the Assembly. Residents were given 19 flag options and four hymns from which to choose. The finalists included the winner (above) and the same flag as above but with a centered hummingbird. Controversy arose when it was found that the hummingbird entry was an image from Shutterstock and it was withdrawn.
