International Education Week 2022

Flags representing over 190 countries are on display in the Duke, Sanders Science and Maxwell Music libraries this week as we mark International Education Week 2022!

We take time during IEW to recognize the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.  We celebrate our international students, faculty, and staff as well as our domestic students who choose to expand their horizons by studying abroad.  Nationally observed in the U.S., International Education Week is promoted by the Department of State and the Department of Education.  The Furman University Libraries are proud to partner with the Rinker Center and the Center for Inclusive Communities as we celebrate International Education Week 2022.

This week in the libraries:

  • Stop by the “Stick a Pin in It” map display.  We invite our international students, faculty, and staff to stick a flag pin on their hometown and our domestic students, faculty, and staff to stick a ball pin on a destination they most want to visit. Happy pinning!
  • Pick a recipe from the “Eat Globally, Cook Locally” cookbook display in the Duke library as we continue to honor our friend and colleague, Jenny Colvin.
  • In the Sanders Science library we invite you to consider the global reach of Furman’s scientific endeavors with the “Local Research, Global Change” display.
  • And in the Maxwell Music library we are encouraged to “Listen Globally, Perform Locally.”
  • Don’t forget the many library resources with a global focus including databases with international publications written in a variety of languages.  Be sure to check out these databases & library guides:

Smithsonian Global Sound

Modern Languages & Literature
