T.E. Lawrence, 125th  Birth Anniversary

On August 16th, 1888, in Tremadoc, North Wales, T.E. Lawrence was born. He is best known for his alias “Lawrence of Arabia,” but he was also a British soldier, an archaeologist and writer. In the first World War, Lawrence was a British Intelligence Officer. He later lead the Arab revolt against the Ottoman Empire. The toppling of this empire was in Britain’s favor because the Ottoman Empire was a German ally. Lawrence organized guerilla attacks on the Ottoman supply chain and captured the vital port of Aqaba. During the revolt, he wrote the book, Seven Pillars of Wisdom, which is a personal account of the revolt. He was eventually killed by a motorcycle accident in Dorset in England on May 19th, 1935 at age 47.
