Articles from Science Direct

We have just finished our first year of ordering articles from the Science Direct database and it has been both popular with faculty and students and very cost effective for the library.

Instead of subscribing to the journals themselves, each individual researcher can purchase what s/he needs on an article by article basis (with the cost being picked up by the library). Although the articles are expensive, the overall cost is less than subscribing to the journals. Through Science Direct we have access to over 2500 academic journals! Although these are richest in the sciences, many other subject disciplines are represented.

This is the only article database that will ask for a password. Faculty may set up Science Direct accounts through our electronic resources librarian, Cris Ferguson. Students can get “mediated access” to articles at the Research Assistance desk and Circulation desk in the main library and through the librarians at the branches. So don’t forget to search Science Direct for great scholarly information!
