Cadaver Labs and Formals

Life at Furman these past few weeks has been pretty exciting! For starters, I have decided to live on my sorority’s hall next year to bond even more with my sisters. It was a big decision, but ultimately, I believe that I made the right choice!

I also recently participated in an amazing activity with my Healthcare Today Engaged Living program: a cadaver lab. We met with an orthopedic surgeon who taught us about the basic surgical tools and instruments of which are often used in surgery, and not only were we able to observe as he worked with a cadaver from mid-thigh to mid-calf, but we also got to use the tools ourselves. I’m not trying to brag, but I was able to sever the ACL on my first try! It was an engaged, hands-on experience like no other!

Speaking of engaged, hands-on experience… I have moved on to the next round in the MedEx Academy Summer 2015 application process! I am so happy that I found out about the MedEx Academy during one of my AED (pre-health honor society) meetings. I truly believe that it is where I am meant to be this summer. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Lastly, I have found my formal dress… now all I need is a date! I will be asking him tonight, so wish me luck!
