So I’ve said it many times before, and I’ll say it again: My favorite thing about Furman is the people. These people include all kinds – amazing faculty, supportive staff, and most importantly, beautiful friends.
My friends are my people. They are my go-tos for hangouts of any kind – weekend, morning coffee, Cookout trips in the middle of the night. They are the people I sit with in the library, or at Admissions Ambassador meetings or sorority chapter. They are the people I choose to spend time with when I have it free (and believe me, your free time in college is the most valuable time you have!)
Everyone finds their people at Furman in different ways. In my case, I found my people, my first and many of my most cherished friends at Furman, on my freshman hall, Blackwell 100 South. More about my darling freshmen hall in a future post, but just remember for now that it is where I found the first of my people.
Senior year tailgate – reunited with my freshman hall!
Senior Homecoming with my best friends
Sorority sisters in ADPi
Senior spring break in Charleston!
Pajama nights (when I am happiest!)
Here’s how you know when your people are your people: You can be your absolute, most authentic self (and for me, that includes sarcasm, sass, and the occasional fit of hanger, which is a very hungry and thus, very angry version of me) and they love you for it and in spite of it. Your people are the ones that you choose to surround yourself with because they make you happy and make you laugh and show you unconditional support. Your people are your people because your triumphs are their triumphs, and your failures are their failures. They celebrate with you, grieve with you, laugh with you, and do everything in between.
