The Greenville Jazz Collective will play an assortment of smooth jazz for your enjoyment.  They are not only very talented musicians; they are also music teachers who work to bring music to our schools. Are you interested in playing in an OLLI GOLF SCRAMBLE? The Social Committee would like to determine interest in an 18-hole scramble, which would be open to all OLLI members and likely held Monday, March 12 or Tuesday, March 13.  Shotgun start at 10 a.m. and the estimated cost would be $55 per person (includes golf, cart, practice range, refreshments & prizes). What’s GOING ON at Furman University?

The High Noon lecture series continues, Wednesdays at Noon in the Resource Room on the second floor of the Upcountry History Museum in downtown Greenville.  October 18, “Climate Change: Between Nature and Society” presented by Dr. Brannon Anderson, Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences. On Saturday, October 14, the exclusive “Katharine Hepburn: Dressed for Stage and Screen” exhibition will make its Southeastern debut at the Upcountry History Museum-Furman University. Museum admission is $7 for seniors. Learn more on the museum website.

The American History Book Club and Forum, Upcountry History Museum and Furman will host New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. at The Poinsett Club in downtown Greenville. $50 per person entitles you to a glass of champagne and an hour of wonderful entertainment. M&G at Bob Jones University invites you to A LAST LOOK Saturday, Oct. 14, 1-5 p.m. If you weren’t able to visit M&G before it closed in February, it’s open for public hours one last time before the collection is de-installed. Come visit for a last look at the art in its natural setting. Volunteers needed! Travelers Rest Artists Alliance presents the 6th annual Art on the Trail, October 21, 10-4, Trailblazer Park in Travelers Rest. Volunteers are needed throughout the day. The Greenville Chorale’s fall concert features the WORLD PREMIER of Dan Forrest’s “LUX: The Dawn from On High,” October 28 at the Peace Center. Commissioned by Gordon and Sarah Herring for the Chorale, “LUX” is Forrest’s third major choral/orchestral work. Also on the program is Dan Forrest’s “Requiem for the Living” which the Chorale performed in 2014.  OLLI members may purchase a discounted ticket voucher ($32 instead of $40). You then exchange your voucher at the Peace Center Box Office for any seat in the house! The Greenville Symphony Orchestra will join the Chorale with Bingham Vick conducting.
