OLLI NOTES              June 30, 2017

This is the last OLLI Notes until early August.  Read on for things to keep you occupied while OLLI is on break.

Summer hours: The OLLI office is open by appointment only during the month of July.  Please call to make sure someone is here before coming by.  The office will be closed July 3-4 in observance of the July 4 holiday.

Plan Ahead:  The Fall 2017 brochure will be posted on our website July 21, and mailed July 28.  Fall registration begins Tuesday, August 15 for those purchasing course packages and Thursday, August 17 for all others.  We will have pre-registration the week prior (watch your email for details) so that you can purchase your membership and package ahead of time if you want.

Don’t toss your OLLI nametag!  If you have a nametag, please save it for next year.  We are happy to make new nametags in case of loss or damage, but it saves time and money if you use yours year after year.

You should have received an email yesterday about changes in the Furman dining hall.  The discounted price for staff, faculty, and OLLI members is now $6.  OLLI members will receive the discount during months we are in session.  There will be no OLLI discount at the dining hall in July, August, or December, or on any weekend.  OLLI members are still welcome to enjoy the dining hall during the “off” months and on the weekends, but will be asked to pay full price.  Email Nancy Kennedy with questions.

Parking on campus:  Remember that if you park on any part of campus besides in front of the Herring Center that you need to pay attention to the color-coding.  OLLI members may park in the ORANGE coded sections, which are for visitors and commuting students.  The purple sections are reserved for faculty and staff.  If you are going to a class at the Physical Activities Center (PAC), you may park in the back two rows of the PAC parking lot, which are for PAC visitors.  The front two rows are reserved for PAC faculty and staff.  If you have any questions, please call the OLLI office.

We’ve been presented with an idea for a course on “Big Food,” which will look at how big farms and big companies provide much of our nation’s food supply.  If you are interested in helping teach this course in winter 2018, please contact Nancy Kennedy at nancy.kennedy2767@furman.edu or 864-294-2979.
