The start of a new year brings opportunities for new beginnings and new perspectives. While it can be tempting to set resolutions based on achieving a certain weight or shape, there may be a better way to support well-being.
For the 7th straight year, the Furman Department of Health Sciences is proud to offer the FIT Rx program for our Furman community. Health Sciences majors are trained in the foundations of Lifestyle Medicine and are available to offer free individualized exercise training and health coaching for other Furman students, employees, and dependents. Lifestyle Medicine is a comprehensive approach to wellness which includes participation in regular physical activity, enjoying an overall healthful diet, obtaining adequate rest, finding peace of mind, and much more.
Through the FIT Rx application process, interested participants can designate preferred training days and times, training preferences, health history, limitations, and goals. The FIT Rx trainers are available to work with each participant to provide individualized guidance and support throughout the semester.
Registration for the Spring 2022 FIT Rx program is now open. Training formats can include indoor training in the PAC, outdoor training, and a limited number of virtual meetings. The first round of training will begin February 1; the second round of training will begin in early March.
