Drs. Meghan Slining (Public Health) and Min-Ken Liao (Biology) are pleased to offer a 4-session ‘Introduction to Mindfulness’ course to the Furman employee community. In this course, participants will practice many techniques for managing stress and calming the nervous system. The course will also help participants build the habit of using mindfulness in their lives on a regular basis.
Mindfulness offers tools to find moments of calm, connection and even joy amidst it all. Research shows that mindfulness meditation can improve well-being, counteract daily stress responses and may be helpful in reducing burnout, stress, anxiety and depression.
The interactive course meets for 75 minutes, once a week for 4 weeks. Each week 2-3 new mindfulness techniques will be introduced. It is highly recommended that participants attend all 4 sessions and spend 10 minutes per day practicing these techniques. Committed participation also helps build a mindfulness community of support.
Course limited to 15 participants.
Thursdays from 5:00-6:15 pm EST (course taught through Zoom online)
Thursday 8, July, Thursday 15, July, Thursday 22, July and Thursday 29, July
