International Education Week is an annual celebration of the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education.
Furman University plays an important role in making education abroad accessible to U.S. students representing the full diversity of our society. International experiences connect students, scholars, and emerging world leaders, enabling them to collaborate and tackle today’s challenges like workforce development, climate change, and global health. By welcoming international students and encouraging U.S. students to participate in education abroad, we create a more secure and stable world.
Rinker Center for Study Away and International Education
Furman’s Study Away opportunities range from three-week intensive May Experience courses to semester or yearlong programs, both in the U.S. and abroad. Students can choose from programs offering internships, language immersion, interdisciplinary courses, or enrollment at partnering universities abroad. Students should begin planning for Study Away early in their Furman years.
Furman’s faculty-led study away programs represent engaged learning at its finest: students and professors critically exploring their destinations together. These study away programs are designed and led by Furman faculty, ensuring that you continue to receive a quality Furman education while traveling off-campus. Faculty help keep the disciplinary lens focused, answer tough questions, and capture the “teachable moments.”
