Summer Reading BINGO Challenge

Katherine McCann, Biology and Spanish double major on the Pre-Health track, also works in Digital Collections in the Furman Libraries during the year. She had the idea to challenge the Furman community to read this summer and developed this BINGO card challenge.

Summer Reading Bingo Challenge

The challenge kicks off June 28 and goes through August 1. If you read 1 book per week, you can get a BINGO! There are two levels of this challenge – one is to read the 4-5 books required for a BINGO; the advanced is to read a book for every square.

Anyone can play along, but only members of the Furman community can submit for prizes.

  1. Anyone who gets a BINGO will be allowed to suggest a book purchase for the Furman Libraries.
  2. The first person to read a book for every square will be featured in our Fall newsletter and the library social media.
  3. To submit, please provide the categories you completed and the books you read to jenny.colvin@furman.edu

Katherine has recommendations for a few of the categories:

  1. Considered a classic: The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas
  2. Published before Furman was founded: Persuasion (1816) by Jane Austen
  3. By listening on audiobook: The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien

The Furman Libraries are a great place to find books to read in the summer. Check out our catalog or browse our Leisure Reading Collection in-person. Find children’s literature in our Juvenile collection to include reads for the whole family.
