Daniel Fernandez, Research Services Assistant at the Furman Libraries, was awarded the Scholarship for Diversity in Librarianship by the South Carolina Library Association.
Most evenings you can find Daniel providing research assistance to students and faculty in the Duke Library. He is also pursuing a master’s degree in library and information science (MLIS) at the University of South Carolina. The scholarship provides tuition support as well as free attendance at the 2025 South Carolina Library Association’s annual meeting.
When asked about his award, Daniel replied “I am honored by the recognition and excited to become a fulltime librarian. I want to thank the MLIS program at USC for helping me get closer to my goals.”
