Introducing Elizabeth Sanford Middleton!

Summary

Introduction to our new Business Librarian, Elizabeth Sanford Middleton!

Say hello to a new, yet perhaps familiar face, our new business librarian, Elizabeth Sanford Middleton. Elizabeth previously worked at the library as our weekend circulation supervisor while receiving a Master’s of Arts in Teaching from Furman during the 2022-2023 school year.

When asked how she would describe her role in the library, Elizabeth said: “I see myself as playing a small part in increasing access to information and promoting its ethical use. As an Instruction and Research Services Librarian I will provide instruction on finding, evaluating, and using information. The exciting part is that information could be anything from a book to a data set. I will also support student research through one-on-one research consultations both at the desk and by appointment. I love research consultations because it gives me the opportunity to learn more about what students are interested and provide more personalized guidance.”

Beyond her duties on our instruction and research services team, Elizabeth loves playing tennis, saying “I picked up tennis in grad school and I am still very much a beginner, but I have a lot of fun with it!”

Another Fun Fact about Elizabeth is that she is a bunny person. While she doesn’t have any currently, she’s on the lookout, so if anyone in the Furman community knows a rescue rabbit in need of a home, we might have a taker in Elizabeth.

We’re thrilled to have Elizabeth join our Furman Libraries team! Be sure to stop by the research assistance desk to say hi and welcome her to Furman!
