Jean’s expertise and passion for supporting research will be invaluable to our students, faculty, staff, and the wider Furman community.

What Jean Does at the Library

Jean’s role involves collaborating with the Furman community to support their research needs. Whether it’s helping students with their projects, assisting faculty with their scholarly work, or engaging with staff and the broader community, Jean is here to ensure that everyone has the resources and support they need to succeed.

What Jean Loves About Her New Role

Jean has quickly found joy in the supportive and friendly environment at Furman. The warm welcome she’s received from her colleagues has made her transition into this new role a positive experience.

A Peek Into Jean’s World

Jean shares her home with two beloved cats, Bippy and George. When it comes to beverages, mineral water is her drink of choice. Jean is also an avid reader, with a recent favorite being I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness by Claire Vaye Watkins. As for comfort food, nothing beats fried okra for Jean.

Music lovers might be surprised to learn that Jean’s most memorable concert was seeing Ricky Martin in 8th grade. Her favorite season is fall, and when it comes to finding a cozy spot in the library, Jean favors the little lounge area in the Outreach Services suite.

Advice for Aspiring Librarians and More

Jean has some straightforward advice for college students considering a career in librarianship: “Do it! It’s my second career. I wish I’d gone back to school and made the change sooner.” She’s a testament to the idea that it’s never too late to pursue your passion.

While Jean isn’t much of a sports fan, she does enjoy some downtime binge-watching shows like Bridgerton. And if she could share a breakfast with any famous person, it would be comedian Tig Notaro, whose wit and humor Jean greatly admires.

We’re thrilled to have Jean on board and can’t wait to see the positive impact she’ll have on our community. Be sure to introduce yourself when you see her around the library!
