Today in 1965 was the minor clash that turned into a major riot: the Watts Riot. California Highway Police and two young African-Americans clashed. The feud resulted in six days of riots in the Watts area of Los Angeles. In total, there were $40 million in damages, 3,000 arrests, and 34 deaths. These riots highlight the racial tension in American society in the 60s.
