Faculty Fridays: Finding Impact

Faculty Fridays: Work Smarter, Not Harder

The Furman Libraries will be offering a series of workshops for faculty this Fall. These hands-on sessions, called Faculty Fridays, will highlight services and products to save you time and energy. From crafting better Moodle links to receiving search results in your email, we can show you how to take your research to the next level.  Handouts and resources are available online.

Bring your questions. Get answers – and snacks! This Friday’s session is all about finding impact factors.

Finding Impact

Date: Friday, November 2,  2012

Time: 12:30-1:30 pm

Location: James B. Duke Library, Room 042

What is a journal’s impact factor and what does it mean?  In this workshop, we will talk about what an impact factor is (and isn’t), as well as show you how to find and compare them.  We’ll also cover tools for tracking the times your work is cited and metrics for measuring the impact of that work.
