Last night, from 7 – 8 PM, we served snacks to students studying in the library. By all accounts, both the event and food were extremely well received.
Tables were set up on the main floor in the Research Commons. Einstein’s donated coffee and coffee cake for the event, and the library provided bottled water, juice boxes, fruit, granola bars, pretzels, cookies, and chips.
The amount of food that was consumed is just as impressive as the speed with which students devoured it. The first round of food was put out at 6:58, and by 7:00, a mere 2 minutes later, it had completely disappeared. All of the snacks were gone by 7:45. Students swarmed the tables, obtained provisions, and returned to their studies as quickly as they had come.
In total, students consumed:
4 gallons of coffee
35 bottles of water
108 juice boxes
2 large trays (2’ x 3’) of coffee cake
16.5 lbs. of apples
15 lbs. of bananas
42 individual-size bags of Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookies
96 granola bars
24 individual-size bags of Goldfish
36 individual-size bags of Snyder’s Pretzels
30 individual-size bags of Sun Chips
50 individual-size bags of assorted Lay’s brand chips
If you were one of the students in the library last night, we thank you for joining us. It was our pleasure to provide a little nourishment for your studies. We wish you the best of luck on your exams.
Our thanks to Einstein’s for contributing to this event. We will welcome Einstein’s to the library building in the fall, and we look forward to working with them again in the future.
