InnoVision, an awards program focused exclusively on celebrating achievements in innovation and technological excellence in the South Carolina Upstate region, has honored Furman Library’s Digicenter and its manager, Jen Haldaman.

The Digicenter was selected as a finalist for innovations Jen developed using Apple Script and metadata which automatically generate KML files for GoogleEarth maps and XML files to populate interactive time lines. The maps and timelines display images pulled directly from the university’s digital assessment management system (LUNA).

Through the use of mapping and time line integration with the digital collections, the Digicenter has created – and continues to create – customized classroom and research materials using the information from its digital collections. The Digicenter has created much more than a repository of items – it has integrated those materials into the classroom environment in innovative and remarkable ways. Congratulations!
