Johnny U: The Life and Times of Johnny Unitas / Tom Callahan
Even though several quarterbacks who have played since Unitas retired may have more outstanding numbers than he had, you simply cannot read this book and not come away convinced that Johnny U was the best there ever was and the best there ever will be.
Debbie Quattlebaum
The Beach House / Mary Alice Monroe
It is a touching story about the Loggerhead Turtles, and the relationship between a mother and daughter.

The Children’s Book /A.S. Byatt
I loved her short stories, “The Djinn in the Nightengale’s Eye” and “The Thing in the Forest,” both brilliant pieces of writing. This is one of those books to live in for awhile, I think. So far so good, but just 80 pages or so in. We will see. Dark, dense, and descriptive. Very textural and very British.
