OLLI NOTES April 12, 2019
The OLLI Office is open 8:30-5 Monday-Thursday, and 8:30-4 on Fridays. Our number is 864-294-2998.

OLLI Spring Directories are available in the OLLI Office for $3.

The OLLI Office will be closed for the Good Friday Holiday next Friday, April 19.

On Wednesday, April 24 Furman will host Special Olympics on campus. Due to traffic and parking issues, most OLLI classes have been canceled that day (unless your class has discussed alternate plans). Announcements have been made in class and we will be sending reminder emails. The classes that WILL meet are: all 3:15 p.m. classes in the Herring Center, Carolina’s Lost Communities 10:45 a.m. at Daniel Recital Hall and The Constitution 1:30 p.m. at Daniel Recital Hall. Reminder for those meeting in Daniel Recital Hall – you will need to enter the campus from the front gate off of Poinsett Highway. Thank you for understanding as Furman helps celebrate these Special Olympians.

OLLI HAPPENINGS
Join in our Lunch and Learn Tuesdays, where community speakers present a variety of interesting topics. Free and open to the public, 12:30-1:20 p.m., HC110. Bring your lunch and enjoy! On April 16, enjoy Interventional Pain Managements Treatment Options with Ashley Mullinax, M.D.

The Space Exploration SIG will meet on the second Friday of the month during the Spring term in HC 105 at 1:00 p.m. Come get updates on current activity in space exploration. Contact Bill Bradshaw with questions.
Let’s play Bocce! The OLLI Bocce SIG will meet Wednesdays at 3 p.m. during the Spring term, weather cooperative. Meet in the lobby or in the field across the drive where the Furman band practices. What’s Going on at Furman?
Furman University Theatre presents “John Proctor is the Villain,” a new play by Kimberly Belflower in collaboration with The Farm Theater (New York), Tues, April 9,- Sat, April 13, at 8 p.m., with 3 p.m. matinees on Sat, April 13, and Sun, April 14. The works of Furman University students will be on display April 5-27 at Greenville’s Southeast Center for Photography located on 116 E. Broad St. The opening reception takes place Fri, Apr 5, 6-8 p.m. Hours are Wed-Fri, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Sat, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free and open to the public. Learn more HERE.

Enjoy Art by Furman University graduating seniors which will be on display Apr 9-May 11 in Thompson Gallery of the Roe Art Building on the Furman campus. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. A reception honoring the artists is set for Tues, Apr 9, 6-8 p.m. in the Roe Art Building. FREE.

Charles Townes Lecture Series Faith and Reasoning will feature Todd May, Class if 1941 Memorial Professor of Humanities, Clemson University speaking on “Spirituality and the Meaning of Life” on Tues, Apr 16 @ 7 p.m. at Younts Conference Center, Furman campus.
