OLLI NOTES September 14, 2018
Celebrating 25 years of Learning in Retirement

The first week of class started with a bang thanks to Hurricane Florence! Thank you for your patience as we navigated various closings and weather announcements. Furman has not yet made a decision about Monday. IF Greenville experiences bad weather, and IF Furman closes as a result, we will notify you via email and our Facebook page, and will leave a message on our main phone number, 864-294-2998. No news is good news—if you don’t hear from us, OLLI will be operating on a regular schedule.

Get Connected! Follow us on Facebook for updates and post your OLLI photos to Instagram at #furmanolli.

Nametags: Thank you for wearing your nametag! That makes it easy to greet friends old and new! We make nametags for all brand-new members. If you are a returning member, we only make a new nametag if you let us know you have lost the original. Please use your nametag from term to term.*** Whether you are a new or returning member, please check the nametag boxes to see if yours is in there. If it’s a duplicate, turn it in to the office so that we can recycle it.***

Have an idea for a new course but need to do a little research? OLLI members can receive an OLLI Curriculum Enhancement Grant of up to $2,000 to reimburse costs associated with developing a new course or modifying an existing one. The Grants Committee accepts and reviews applications in the fall and spring. The fall deadline is October 1. Application forms are available here or on the bulletin board in the Herring Center.

PARKING UPDATE: Furman is in the process of changing our parking decals. In the meantime, we have a temporary parking pass for OLLI members who park away from the Herring Center (PAC, Chapel, Shi Center, etc.). OLLI members who park only in the lots around the Herring Center will not need a temporary parking pass. The temporary parking passes are available in the OLLI office or at our website Temp Parking Pass. Stay tuned for more details on the new parking decals.
