Happy Holidays to you all!

 

Registration continues online and in the office. Some classes and bonus events have already filled, so please consider having a backup. If you are on a waitlist, we will call you if a spot opens up.  Each member may sign up for two Bonus Events.  If you are on a Bonus Event waitlist, you can add one more.

 

Cocoa and Carols with the Chorale! Members of the Greenville Chorale will join us in Manly Lobby.  They will present a program of seasonal music.  You’ll also enjoy a Christmas sing-a-long, warm drinks, yummy desserts (please bring something to share) and social time with OLLI friends on Tuesday, December 13 at 6:30 p.m.  Free!  Reservations are helpful. Call the office (294-2998) to let us know you’ll be there.

 

We are still looking for a few Class Liaisons for the Winter Term.  If you are interested in supporting our instructors in this way, please email Pam Roberson.  There will be a Class Liaison training on Thursday, January 12 at 1:30 p.m.

OLLI HAPPENINGS

 

The OLLI Recorder Consort will perform holiday music at the Woodlands on Monday, Dec. 12, at 2:45 pm.  The group will be playing on 5 sizes of recorders and guitar. Recorders are not just for children!

 

Have an idea for a new course? Want to enhance a current course?  Grants of up to $2000 are available to Ollie members to help cover the costs of course development.  Click here for the grant application.  Applications should be submitted in the OLLI Office by March 1, 2017.

 

Looking to become meaningfully engaged in the community? STEAM Tech Teams needs volunteers to help in the 40+ engagements currently scheduled.  All new volunteers will work with experienced volunteers; therefore, no particular skills are required. Classroom-based activities include 3D Printing & Design, E-Nable Hand, Quadcopter Drone, Computer Works and Biomolecules programs.

Triune Mercy Center is seeking a volunteer for Saturdays from 9:00 to noon to open and close the art room, make supplies available and create a supportive environment. Activities include painting, sewing, drawing, jewelry making, assembling collages etc. Most participants are self-directed. Art skills helpful but not required. What’s happening at Furman?

 

The Upcountry History Museum – Furman University, in partnership with the Norman Rockwell Museum, is currently hosting the traveling exhibition Norman Rockwell’s Home for the Holidays. This beloved exhibition, featuring over 40 of Norman Rockwell’s most memorable and enduring holiday images, is making its South Carolina debut at the Upcountry History Museum. What’s GOING ON in and around Greenville?

 

TONIGHT!  Christmas with the Chorale – Greenville Chorale’s 35th annual family Christmas concert is Friday, December 9, 7:30 pm in McAlister Auditorium.   The Chorale, led by Bing Vick, is joined by the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra, Thomas Joiner, conductor. An evening of beautiful and exciting sounds of the season – carols, Nutcracker excerpts, “12 Days of Christmas” with the audience, Santa Claus, and much more. OLLI discount is 20% for tickets. $30 ticket for only $24 in the OLLI office. Open seating, so come early and pick your seat. Merry Christmas!
