Wouldn’t it be nice to have your own private study room in the library? For an entire month? To share with 3 friends?! SUCH A ROOM EXISTS! The library has created a private VIP study room reserved for the “Scholar of the Month” and 3 of their friends. Furnished with a study table, 4 chairs, plus a comfy chair and a bookcase to store belongings. Say goodbye to hunting for vacant study rooms. Say hello to privacy, comfort, convenience and storage space.
Want to become a Scholar of the Month? Come to the James B. Duke Library and fill out an entry form (one per student). A submission box and entry forms are available in the Research Commons. All entries must be made by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 28th.
We will randomly select one winner from all entries on Monday, August 31st. This lucky student will be named Scholar of the Month and awarded use of the private VIP study room during the month of September.
The Scholar of the Month will be notified via their Furman email and announced on the library’s blog, Facebook, and Instagram accounts.

- Scholar of the Month is limited to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. Sorry, Freshmen!
- The drawing for Scholar of the Monday taking place on Monday, August 31st is for the month of September. Drawings for October, November, and December will be held in the future and you will have additional chances to enter those drawings.
