Who knew exam week could be so fun? With holiday cheer and exam week festivities, studying for exams really has not been that bad. Today was our last day of classes (also known as LDOC). I can’t believe that my first semester is already over. Exams last one week here, and there is a day in between the last day of classes and the first day of exams so that students have some extra time to study.

Throughout the week approaching exams, I had a festive holiday event every single day. A Christmas carol  church services, hot chocolate downtown, secret Santa parties, ugly sweater parties, and the Winter Wonderland party sponsored by FUSAB (the Furman University Student Activities Board) put me in a great mood while studying for exams!

The best event of the week was the Winter Wonderland party in the Trone Student Center. Our own President Kohrt and his wife dressed up as Santa and Mrs. Claus to pose for pictures with students. They even read “Twas’ the Night Before Christmas” to the students while sitting next to the fake fire place on the TV screen. FUSAB served cupcakes, bagels, make-your-own trail mix, and candy canes. They even invited a local traveling brewery who served fresh, hot coffee. It was a great study break. Events like this remind me of how much Furman really cares about the students. The entire community comes together to celebrate and provide students with some holiday cheer during stressful times.

Tomorrow will be full of studying and study breaks provided by several clubs and organizations on campus. I’m most looking forward to the midnight breakfast that will be served in the Dining Hall the night before exams begin.

I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season! Please e-mail me if you have any questions! Kjersti.kleine@furman.edu
